Coming of Age Day (Seijin-no-hi), celebrated annually on January 11, is a perfect opportunity for camera vultures to feast upon kimono-clad ladies and wild-hairstyles lads as they commemorate their turning twenty. After attending a ceremony at the city/town hall or temple, many head off in cliquey droves to the pub to get plastered, often with a cigarette in hand (cigarettes being legal from age 20).
