Giant robot Tokyo takeover 水からのガンダム (odaiba)Posted by timothy sullivan (Tokyo, Japan) on 18 August 2009 in Art & Design. Heading back from a weekend in Niijima, I was rather weary, sunburned, and drained of energy; still, as the giant ferry boat passed by Odaiba, I just had to seize the opportunity to snap a few quick photos of this giant robot exhibition - - the view from the water offered a pretty fantastic vantage point. - - - - -

Ti from Alpharetta, United StatesYou should've seen it at night. Search youtube and you'll find lots of videos of it, the head turns and tilt up and steam/smoke, lights, etc.. Japan is truely an anime country itself. :-) 20 Aug 2009 1:05am @Ti: yeah--I have! the steam is mighty impressive; gives it a rather foreboding guardian sort of aura. i might have a look at the new statue in Kobe, "testsujin" (http://www.kobe-tetsujin.com/). Perhaps the Japanese are looking to fight the economic crisis by building replicas of past superhero robots, and then summon their powers somehow--? I wonder |
