gravel and leaf 小石と葉っぱ (harajuku)Posted by timothy sullivan (Tokyo, Japan) on 6 August 2009 in Plant & Nature. This quiet photo came from an equally tranquil scene: branching off the main entrance to Meiji Shrine in Harajuku is a smaller path which winds around the shrine's perimeter. On lazy Sundays, as a surprisingly small number of people wander about these trails (opting instead to make a bee-line to the giant torii gate and see the shrine's beautiful interior), they make for a wonderful place to take a leisurely stroll; indeed, as the wind blows about the lush foliage above, causing aged trees to sway peacefully, one can enjoy the sensation of being alone with the secluded forest- -and feel rather refreshingly removed from the noise and bustle of one of the largest cities on the planet. - - - - -
