asakusa baby 浅草赤ちゃん (asakusa)

Mother walks with baby through one of the scores of stalls selling windchimes; as mother pauses in her steps to have a look at one of the beautiful glass globes, a kind breeze wanders through the air, leaving in its soft wake a crescendo of tinkles and pingings. Baby lifts his gaze upward at the now-fluttering tiny sails of paper; entranced by their sound- -that of soft wings- -after a few moments he silently reaches his delicate arms toward the percussionate melody. Sensing his shift in weight, mother looks downward at her son, then, tacitly understanding her papoose's desire, lifts him as closely as she can. "Fūrin," she teaches with a smile, pointing at the glass; yet baby seems quite oblivious to this new word, and instead with quick eyes tracks every spin, flutter and twirl of the paper wind-catcher.
