Hase temple ajisai, revisited 長谷寺を再び訪問 (Kamakura)

Posted by timothy sullivan (Tokyo, Japan) on 10 June 2009 in Plant & Nature.

I'd taken a shot nearly identical to this one shown here about two years ago, and had decided this past weekend that I would return to the same scene and see if my perspective had changed with time. For me, my "photographic ability" is one of those difficult things to pin down and measure by myself--and much of the time I must compare scenes I have taken in the present with those taken in the past, in order to get any real sense of my progress.

So when I arrived home and realized that I had taken practically the same image, I had a chuckle: either I completely fail, and I have grown so little in these past two years, or I am consistent in my style. (How do you measure your own successes?)
