bamboo buddha 竹森の仏 (kamakura)

Nestled adjacent to some of Kamakura’s tranquil foothills, Hokukuji Temple offers its visitors a taste of old rural Japan--all just a 15 minute walk away from Kamakura Station. Most visitors come to Hokokuji for its bamboo grove, a splendid mix of bamboo young and old; sipping on some fresh macha green tea whilst listening to the breeze eddy through the delicate leaves, and the soft percussion of bamboo on bamboo, truly sets the mind at ease.
