misty pyramid もやもやピラミッド (cairo)

Rising up from the arid plain before me, the pyramid of Khafre (Chephren) is a rather impressive structure. After dismounting from my camel, I squatted upon the soft desert sand, which beckoned to me in way most peculiar (something which happens whenever I am near vast quantities of sand); I ran my fingertips through it, and, feeling its powder within my palm I let it fall through gaps between my fingers. Like a child, playing with stones. I contemplated that sentiment for a few minutes, becoming completely oblivious to what lay around me; yes, structures such as these were meant to instill awe in the hearts and minds of those who saw them--to reduce all mortals to the humble minds of children.

My gaze gradually shifted upward from the pyramid of sand I had semiconsciously made, to the top of Khafre, where part of the original limestone casing managing to endure through the millennia; I closed my eyes, attempting in vain to imagine how truly magnificent these tombs had been at the time of their creation.

A marvelous shot. A narrative that is even better. Combined they make an excellent pair. Well done Timothy.
