gifu hanami 岐阜で花見 (gifu, japan)

Posted by timothy sullivan (Tokyo, Japan) on 13 April 2009 in Plant & Nature.

Taken at the Japan and China Friendship Garden, Gifu.

Late spring is one of the most beautiful times in Japan, when the nation's cherry blossoms awaken for a fortnight and are admired by millions, before fluttering to earth en masse with evening's lukewarm breath. It's an emotion--not just a scene--so very iconic of Japan, something so very magical that one can lose his or her worries and just "be".

While hanami is nearly over for 2009, there are photos to come--on April 19 and 28.
