creek boat taxi ドバイ・クリーク (dubai)

Many prosperous cities grow where the mouths of rivers meet sizable bodies of water, and Dubai is no exception. As it was relatively shallow, Dubai Creek (Khor Dubai) had been used primarily for its variety of fishery resources and as a gateway to the pearl resources which had brought Dubai's initial prosperity. During the 1950s and then twice again in the two decades to come, the Creek was dredged, thus enabling larger vessels to gain access to ports further inland.

Today, the Creek is a tranquil, breezy area with shops, cafes, and restaurants lining its shores, and everyone can still enjoy a short "cruise" from shore to shore for 1 dirham.
