It begins with power (Dubai)

Posted by timothy sullivan (Tokyo, Japan) on 2 April 2009 in Architecture.

Sunrise in Dubai: Ribbons of crackle-humming high-tension lines shimmer in the light.

"I'm spending two weeks in the Middle East!" excitedly I exclaimed to friends, family, and coworkers alike; the replies and facial expressions I met were nearly identical: things like, "Hey, that's nice," usually accompanied with a mixed look of surprise and mild concern, and punctuated with a, "be careful there" or similar caution veiled within humor.
A caution, I suspect, that stemmed from a lack of balanced information and/or understanding of the Middle East.
Over the next two weeks or so, I will be posting a variety of different photos and some of my thoughts on my experience; as this is a photoblog, I will be posting the more detailed thoughts on my blog (http://tcsuliv.blogspot.com/) and limiting the amount I write here to descriptions of the scenery surrounding the images themselves.
As always, I welcome your own thoughts and experiences--and shall endeavor to reply.
