old game machines 古業務用ゲーム機 (tokyo, japan)Posted by timothy sullivan (Tokyo, Japan) on 6 March 2009 in Documentary & Street. (continued from previous day) Thus when I find a bubble within this city I try to explore it to the fullest extent possible, taking these kinds of "daily life" photos with the back-mind cognizance that such areas and scenes may soon, suddenly, and without warning vanish, leaving behind few people who paid enough care to maintain a memory of what had existed in the place before. (Indeed, many of the large Japanese cities seem to hold few memories of the past--things are simply closed, shuttered, demolished, then something new built, in what would appear to be a phlegmatic cycle. If places are uncaptured in photographs, their memories are lost forever. I believe that someone will use Photosynth-esque technology in the near future to document these changes through the years; though place-memories may fade and be born anew, people will be able to use technology to step back in time and see how these areas have aged.)
