flowerpetals with moss 梅暦と苔 (ueno, japan)

Posted by timothy sullivan (Tokyo, Japan) on 26 February 2009 in Plant & Nature.

As a gust of wind suddenly struck the plum trees at Ueno's Rinnoji temple, some of the petals came fluttering down to earth and landed atop a clump of moss. Naturally, this attracted my attention.
I ended up attracting the attention of other tourists as well, as I lay prone upon the ground in order to get this angle; some people chuckled or scoffed at my form, wondering aloud why I would be so inclined to lay with my stomach on the dirty ground. Basically I ignored their comments, concentrating instead on the task at hand.
Unfortunately, I ended up not bracketing the shot as I should have--and ended up only with this; I hope to return sometime soon and recapture the scene.
