asakusa monkey show 浅草の猿ショー (asakusa, japan)

It seems that there's something always happening at Asakusa's Sensoji Temple on the weekends. While that 'something' is usually some sort of minor event or festival, this past Sunday saw something a little out-of-the-ordinary (and perhaps something seen more in the Orient than in the Occident): a monkey show.
Though perhaps not as touching as this monkey scene (one of my absolutely favorite photos), this Japanese Macaque brought smiles to the crowd of onlookers as he performed different kinds of tricks and feats.
Monkeys (along with cats) seem to be a rather key animal for the Japanese (just think of the Three Wise Monkeys); sometimes I wonder if the humorous quality of monkeys lies in the mirror of our own nature.
