something traditional, something new (kamakura)

Posted by timothy sullivan (Tokyo, Japan) on 16 January 2009 in Art & Design.

I decided to carry on the general "kanji calligraphy" kind of theme from yesterday, and recalled that I had taken this shot a while ago in Kamakura's Tsurugaoka Hachimangu (or Hachiman Shrine). I had really loved the sense in this photo--while technically not the best of photos, the juxtaposition of calligraphy brush, elderly hands, and the modern computer keyboard stirred within me a rather unique sentiment -- of considering for a few fleeting moments what technology will be by my own hand when I am older.
