kegon falls 華厳滝 (nikko, japan)

Posted by timothy sullivan (Tokyo, Japan) on 13 December 2008 in Plant & Nature.

One of the most famous waterfalls in Japan, Kegon Falls can be quite breathtaking--particularly as the sun sets.

As the sun sets, a cool breeze begins to bellow out from the surface of Lake Chuzenjiko, funneling through the river's chasm and curtaining out from this 97m high waterfall. While in summer it makes for quite a refreshing moment, in late autumn, it's a different story entirely.

(initially, i really didn't like the lens flare in this image--but when i viewed it on the computer screen, i thought it looked somewhat okay. what do you think?)
