asakusa samba festival 浅草サンバ (asakusa, japan)

ahh-- for the first time ever i had the chance to see the asakusa carnival/samba festival! all other years, in my previous job (before the corporation went bankrupt--but that's another tale entirely), i had thursdays/fridays off. as most festivals are held on the weekend, that meant that i missed quite a large chunk of the "japanness"--the singing, the dancing, the food stalls in the streets, and happy faces. the culture that you don't get to see at other times.

despite it's being quite crowded, the carnival was really quite an experience: dancing, music, singing--vivid costumes and overall just a simply amazing atmosphere.
