as a kind of "living museum", hancock shaker village (route 20 in pittsfield, MA) quite well preserves part of the way of life of the Shakers. using materials (wool, etc.) gathered from the livestock and farm-grown ingredients produced here, the museum staff and volunteers make a variety of different things close to the same methods as those used nearly a century before.

this is one of the famous "shaker barns"
