銀座の道で歩いている様々 on a given weekend afternoon, the police close off some of the side streets to traffic, and pedestrians just walk about everywhere! some shops set up a few tables and chairs outside so that people can have a seat and relax; it really gives a nice energy to an otherwise crowded area

A great shot Timothy, I love the movement of the shoppers. Most of our towns and city centres are pedestrianised, it's great not to have to worry about traffic :)

@MaryB: Thanks for the comment, Mary! yeah--i think that part of the charm of Japan are the meandering narrow alleyways that nevertheless somehow find sunlight, where in many Western cities they'd be exactly the kinds of dimly-lit areas that people would tend to avoid. still, i really do enjoy 'pedestrian day' ;-)
