kamakura hiking trail

i swim within author Iso Mutsu's words quite often in my mind; i think of how she had loved this spiritually-awakening area called kamakura-- a place that had been destroyed and rebuilt so many times over the centuries, and nevertheless remained a holy area through each of these time periods.
when you hike along the country trails, you can hear the forest whisper to you everso lightly; i found it presents itself as a single word or emotion that seems somehow foreign to me-- and as soon as i think about where it came from, it has gone. left.
it's so difficult to empty my head of all my thoughts; i suppose that i am always scheming or otherwise mulling something over in my head-- but here i can find peace.

this particular trail is one of the maze of trails that crisscrosses about the wilderness in Kamakura; when i venture down to that area, i tend to start at kitakamakura and just wander wherever my feet take me to kamakura; each time i go, i try to find a slightly different route. it's one of those small pleasures.
