jizo statues and pinwheels 像と風車 (tokyo, japan)

right in the heart of tokyo, near Tokyo Tower, lies a farily large temple-- Zojoji. on on side of the temple are scores of jizo statues, each with a pinwheel by their side. (what are jizo? basically, they are buddhas who look after children in the afterlife; when an abortion, miscarriage or other traumatic event is experienced, people will often buy a statue to look after the spirit of the departed.)
